To keep some parity between Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and its predecessor Remake, Square Enix has updated the 2020 game so they match up better. Unfortunately, it was a Tifa outfit that was updated, which means fans are now complaining about “censorship” and the company “being woke.”
A Twitter post from Alex Donaldson reveals that Tifa’s cowgirl attire from Remake was updated to look how it does in Rebirth. This means giving the then-15-year-old character a sports bra, just like her current character model, which has resulted in some gross comments. Once again, gamers are mad that they can’t ogle at a teenage version of their waifu anymore.
While this kind of update isn’t what we expected, it does show that Square Enix wants Final Fantasy Rebirth and its sequel to have a more streamlined continuity. Seeing fans act like this over a fictional character’s clothes is pretty disappointing, but that’s just what we’ve come to expect from gamers.
Tifa broke the internet when Square Enix revealed she and Aerith wearing swimsuits, showing that she’s just as busty as ever. Some fans originally thought that her breasts got smaller in Remake when she was just wearing a sports bra. However, even with her glorious chest being shown in a bikini, fans still have time to complain about more censorship regarding her appearance.
Discourse regarding Tifa is always going to be annoying, but it seems that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will continue the first game’s streak of being an excellent RPG. Critic reviews are in and many have said that this is a vast improvement over its already excellent predecessor. We also thought the sequel was excellent, giving the game a 9 out of 10, showing just how good the sequel is.

Even with a couple of gross fans online, that shouldn’t dissuade anyone from picking up Final Fantasy VII Rebirth when it comes to PS5 on February 29. Players can also pick up Final Fantasy VII Intergrade on PS5 and PC if they want to get caught up.
