For fans of both World of Warcraft and Baldur’s Gate 3, a new custom campaign mod, Forsaken, offers an unexpected, but welcome crossover. This ambitious project recreates the plague-stricken Undead starting zone, Tirisfal Glades, within Larian Studios’ RPG.
Right now, only the Deathknell region is available in this teaser release — making up about 1/8th of the first zone, according to the modder SquallyDaBeanz.
In this mod, players can take on five new quests, interact with fully written NPCs, explore a new dungeon, and even set up a party camp to chill for a moment. While this is just a small slice of what’s planned, it offers a glimpse of what could become a full-fledged Warcraft-inspired experience within Larian Studios’ award-winning RPG.
The mod’s creator has big plans for Forsaken, aiming to flesh out Tirisfal Glades with more dialogue choices, skill checks, hidden puzzles, unique encounters, and a refined hireling system. Future updates will also fine-tune enemy AI, add custom music triggers, and enhance the world’s atmosphere with better lighting and environmental details.
While there’s no voice acting or cutscenes, the focus is on gameplay and world-building. If enough players show interest, the next major update will expand the mod into a full Act 1, covering all of Tirisfal Glades.
Multiplayer is supported, but all players must have the mod installed. The developer also recommends rolling an Undead-themed character for full immersion — though, of course, you’re free to play however you like. If you need hirelings, simply click the sarcophagus in the Shadow Grave at the start of the campaign.
A word of warning: like all mods, Forsaken has a few rough edges. Some quest rewards may not display correctly, party camp chests might not appear for non-host players, and there are a few quirky dialogue loops. Compatibility with other mods depends on whether they alter BG3’s core world, but most should work fine.
No release date for the full mod has been released, at the time of writing. The creator is currently focused on another major mod, The Act Two Expansion, but intends to return to Forsaken afterward. In the meantime, the teaser will be updated for Patch 8, with additional improvements rolling out over time.
