To capitalise on the popularity of the battle royale phenomenon Fortnite, Disney has bought a $1.5 billion stake in developer Epic Games. Combined with the countless other IP owned by Disney, Fortnite’s iconic crossovers now have unlimited potential, but fans only want one thing: the Always Sunny gang.

Originally owned by 20th Century Fox, Disney officially acquired TV studio FX in 2019. This means that Disney now owns the studio’s most popular, long-running sitcom: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Starring Danny DeVito, Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day, Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney, the 16-season sitcom has been heralded as one of the best American TV shows of all time. And, at least according to fans, the iconic hang of miscreants belong in Fortnite.

A viral post on Twitter (or X if you’re like that) told Disney and Epic to “PUT THEM IN FORTNITE YOU COWARDS”, and the digital crowd went wild.

Alongside the five members of the Always Sunny crew, fans have already thought of alternate costumes or emotes that could be added. For example, Dayman, Nightman, The Trashman, The Birds of War and Green Man could all be additional costumes that fans could drop in with.

Furthermore, Fortnite emotes based on the show could include the iconic “anyway, I started blasting”, the Dayman dance and Dennis’ suburbs rage. God, those would genuinely be brilliant additions to the battle royale game.

With Fortnite Season 5 Chapter 1 now in full effect, alongside its annoying V-Bucks changes and awful revised Locker system, the Always Sunny gang likely won’t be added to the game anytime soon. After all, we’re still rolling through the game’s brilliant Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia could make for an incredibly fun Fortnite crossover event, especially if they recreate some of the series’ best costumes. Will it ever happen? Probably not. But it’s fun to dream.

Fortnite is available right now as a free to play game on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile.
