Epic Games’ unstoppable battle royale Fortnite constantly changes major parts of the game, but fans aren’t happy with the new revision of the Fortnite Locker UI… at all.
Coming in the next Fortnite patch, the new Fortnite Locker UI aims to clean up and simplify the way players equip their suite of unlocked skins, backpacks and more. However, the cleaner UI has been heavily criticised by fans of the free battle royale game.
A post on the Fortnite subreddit explains that the new Locker system makes character customisation way more “tedious” than before. While it is cleaner and easier to parse, it makes it harder to apply complete character presets compared to the current version of the game.
In a video, a fan showed that creating a character preset in the new Locker takes 11 clicks on PC, compared to 2 clicks in the previous version. Fans have also explained that the system is even more tedious on consoles as you can’t quickly scroll through the Locker items to make your presets.
Reception for the new Fortnite Locker UI has been universally negative with some fans even saying that they don’t want to play the game following the new system.
“I still can’t believe someone signed off on this bullsh*t thinking it was better. Especially when the way it was before was perfect as is,” one fan said. “Still utterly dumbfounded by this change. How is one of the biggest multiplayer games in the world managed so haphazardly?” said another.
Over the past few months, Epic has made major additions to the Fortnite ecosystem with the massively popular LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Guitar Hero clone Fortnite Festival. While some UI changes are frustrating for longtime, hardcore fans, the huge additions are fantastic addons for the gamers everywhere.
Fortnite is still available as a free to play game on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile.
