A massive groan of disappointment could be heard amongst the Fortnite community as the game finally unveiled the highly anticipated Aphrodite Skin.
Fortnite is entering Chapter 5 Season 2, with Myths and Mortals being the theme for the new season. It's inspired by Greek mythology and will have the Gods and Goddesses from the Greek Pantheon become a part of the game.
Epic Games conducted a fan survey where players could pick their favourite skins according to the theme. The new Greek mythology theme received a lot of hype as we also got a new live event with Pandora's Box. Safe to say, fans were excited for the upcoming season and its promised skins.
However, as the season and skins have been unveiled, fans can't help but feel let down by the game, especially by the highly-voted Aphrodite skin.
An X/Twitter user called this a f*cking downgrade as they posted two pictures. One is the promised original look, and the other is the playable in-game version.
“Why are they so afraid of making the skins look exactly like the concept art?” inquired one user in the replies. People tried to guess the reasoning behind this decision as one user simply said, “Because it’s way more work”, while another tried to reason that they “don’t have the rights and could get sued”.
However, some users went ahead and made their own quick edits that most people agree look a lot better.
However, this was not the only voted skin that got a bad response with many fans commenting that Medusa's model is also terrible. “I feel like every skin besides Artemis is like at least a little worse than the survey art, but man did Aphrodite and Medusa really get the short end of the stick.” posted a user.
There are other skins that won in the survey but haven't been revealed yet. Fans are unsure if or when they will come out, but it is fair to say that the player base does not have any high expectations.
