Fortnite recently confirmed in a developer post that it will add a first-person mode this December. While this sounds appealing to fans of battle royales and shooting games in general, there is a huge possibility of having Fortnite VR sometime in the future.

Fortnite's first-person mode will initially be available to Unreal Editor for Fortnite and Creative mode and will enter beta on December 11.

With Chapter 6 on the way, players hope it will come soon in the game's battle royale mode. In an official tweet by the Fortnite Creators, many players look forward to the feature and are excited to see what new content Fortnite has to offer for the next season.

As the first-person mode is still an experimental feature entering its beta, there will be some limitations on its use in Creative mode. As per the Fortnite Creator Portal, the following list shows some of the limitations of Fortnite's first-person mode:

  • All ranged weapons (except dual-wield weapons like Dual Pistols) and the Ballistic Shield are usable in first-person, but not all weapons currently have custom reload animations in first-person.
    • When dual-wielding weapons, the camera will automatically switch to third-person. This will remain the case in the Beta release.
  • Not all player actions are available in first-person. In some situations, such as swimming, gliding, and skydiving, the camera automatically switches to the third person. This will remain the case in the Beta release.
  • Some actions may cause the player's hands or weapon to be hidden.
  • Shadows are missing; in some situations, you may notice rendering imperfections like clipping.

VR games have made a huge resurgence recently, with Batman: Arkham Shadows and Metro: Awakening bringing VR playing to the next level. Having a Fornite VR will is an interesting take in Creative mode, akin to what Minecraft had before officially discontinued its VR support.
