Fortnite has teased the return of its iconic Chapter 1 content, and leakers have confirmed the return of the 2018-era map and loot among other changes thanks to a time machine malfunction.
Players can thank this chapter's villain, Kado Thorne, for the upcoming time travel shenanigans. An official teaser shows him standing menacingly in front of his time machine as it displays the date '2018-07-12', which long-time Fortnite fans will know marked the day that Chapter 1 Season 5 was added to the game.
Trusted Fortnite leakers like HYPEX have contributed some knowledge of their own. If their sources are to be believed, players can expect certain parts of Chapter 1's map to return to the game and rapidly cycle through that chapter's seasons. Chapter 4 season 4 is slated to end at the beginning of November, so the changes will likely be part of Fortnite's transition to chapter 5 in December.
This won't change the entire map, if the details shared by fellow Fortnite leaker Shiina are legitimate. Some fans are bound to be disappointed, as many consider 2018-era Fortnite to be the 'golden age', but it'll be interesting to see how it's adapted to suit the game in 2023.
It seems that the maps could be mixed together in some way. Next season's map will have huge chunks of the Chapter 1 map, and it will likely rotate specific seasons on a weekly basis.
These nostalgic changes will also see the loot pools of 2018 return to the game, though Epic will likely want to tweak a few aspects of them with the wisdom they've gained from the last five years.
