Breakdown

  • Fortnite could get X-Men '97 skins soon
  • Rocket League is collabing with the Disney+ show
  • The collab starts on April 23, the same day Fortnite update v29.30 drops

Fortnite could be getting new X-Men '97 skins according to data miners who are suggesting the recent Rocket League collaboration could be a hint at an even bigger crossover.

With the alleged official Fortnite 2024 roadmap leaking that a new Marvel season is coming later this year, it wouldn't be shocking that the Fortnite Item Shop starts getting filled with superhero cosmetics in the near future.

The rumours stem from an official Rocket League x X-Men '97 crossover announced on April 20 with cosmetics themed around Jean Grey, Gambit, Cyclops, Wolverine, Magneto, and more.

Rocket League is getting X-Men '97 content and Fortnite could as well

The crossover is set to start on April 23, with many fans and insiders noting that this is the date when the new Fortnite v29.30 update is set to drop, potentially hinting that Fortnite could also get some X-Men '97 content.

Marvel, and particularly the X-Men have a long history of showing up in Fortnite with plenty of collaborations. Talking mutants alone, there are skins for Dark Phoenix, Gambit, Rogue, Mystique, Psylocke, Domino, Cable, and Wolverine, to name just a handful.

Still, it would be exciting to get X-Men '97 skins specifically, as the show has a very unique aesthetic that could blend in perfectly with Fortnite's colourful world, especially if they keep the cell-shaded style from the show.
Plus, it would be the perfect opportunity for some iconic X-Men characters to finally make it into Fortnite, namely Cyclops, a surprising absentee from the long list of Marvel characters already available in the battle royale.

Speaking of Marvel characters that could finally be added to Fortnite, recent leaks also suggest the Fantastic Four are finally landing on the battle royale. An obvious choice considering Disney will likely try to push the character's popularity ahead of the upcoming film set to release in 2025.
