The land of Skyrim is home to a lot of tasty foods and alchemy ingredients, no matter how much affinity you have for vegetables.

However, have you ever considered not stuffing the munchies that you find into your mouth and instead using them to slice up your enemies, whether these be rude NPCs or despicable minions?

One Skyrim modder, it would seem, certainly has, creating a blade which uses the power of vegetables to add some extra spice to your kills.

Vampires Beware, I’m Wielding Pure Garlic!

The mod that delivers this unusual weapon is called ‘Ancestral Garlic Sword’ and is the work of modder dbs156, whose previous work includes adding another quirky sword into the game and making the shields in its Special Edition protect you from magic.

Now, however, they’ve used their modding powers to make a truly unique sabre made from iron, garlic and deathbell flowers.

While this mix of materials may not sound as study as your favoured ebony or daedric weapon, the garlic sword has some interesting properties that help it do some serious damage, with the garlic ensuring it sets alight undead and the deathbell poison giving it some extra kick against the living.

Don’t worry about having to come up with a fresh headcanon to justify its addition to your character’s inventory either, with the mod’s description featuring a letter from Greg the garlic farmer explaining how the blade came to exist in the Elder Scrolls universe.

This letter also explains how to get your hands on the sword, with 50 pieces of garlic having to sacrifice to a blacksmith’s forge in order to form your new stabby friend, in what sounds like the nicest smelling smithing session ever engaged in.

The inspiration for the mod, which dbs156 claims to be lore-friendly due to the fact that the sword’s effects mirror garlic’s real properties, is a video by New Zealand YouTubers Viva La Dirt League, which you can watch below:

So, don your lettuce armour, grab your broccoli shield, pick up this garlic sword, and make sure to follow us for more updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the wacky world of Skyrim modding.
