It's been a while since we last heard anything on Haunted Chocolatier. Worry not, as a new update has just been released on the games development.

Work on Haunted Chocolatier has previously been side-lined by the game's creator, Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) as he works to complete the upcoming 1.6 Update for Stardew Valley. However, with the release date of Stardew Valley 1.6 supposedly before the end of 2023, it appears that Barone is starting to return his focus back to Haunted Chocolatier.

On October 4, the latest batch of development screenshots were posted on ConcernedApe's X, formerly Twitter, account, to celebrate reaching 1 million followers on the platform.

New screenshots released for Haunted Chocolatier

Since Haunted Chocolatier was announced October 2021, fans have been left to speculate over what to expect in the game, which is believed to be set in the world of Stardew Valley. The newly released screenshots help give us more indication of what to expect from the game.

For starters, the mermaid fountain shown in one screenshot seems to give some validity to the games being set in the same world, with the mermaid taking the same design as was seen in Stardew Valley.

The other screenshots include what appears to be the player's house, a sinister and gothic library, as well as a fresh look at the new combat system that will be coming with the game.

From ConcernedApe's screenshots, its clear that Haunted Chocolatier's art direction will be taking a darker, spookier tone than its predecessor. This is evident with Haunted Chocolatier having a much cooler colour palette.

Additionally, the intricacy and detail of Barone's artwork has come a long way since the release of Stardew Valley. The screenshot of the player's house alone is full of cute decorations and details, that show Haunted Chocolatier's graphics to be a level above that of Stardew Valley.

With Stardew Valley still in development, it will likely be some time until Haunted Chocolatier is even given a release date. For more on Haunted Chocolatier, why not check out everything we know about the game.
