It looks like Sony is finally loosening up their PC releases, as Helldivers 2 can now be purchased on five previously-banned locations in the US. This comes after Sony finally decided to make PSN requirements an optional login for some of their single-player games. Hopefully, this is a sign that the company is willing to sell its games in more regions and countries.
Northern Star has confirmed that the popular multiplayer shooter has returned to five US territories where it was previously pulled: American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This is a huge step forward after Sony delisted the game from these states, giving fans hope everywhere.
Helldivers 2 was just the beginning, as Sony started to make PSN requirements for all of their PC games, even if they were single-player only. Fans couldn’t play Ghost of Tsushima or God of War: Ragnarok on PC if they were one of the states or countries that didn’t have official PSN accounts. While this isn’t a problem for PS5 owners, it’s a big one on PC as they mandated it and de-listed their upcoming games.
Since Sony seems to be loosening up that rule, it looks like PlayStation games could be returning to PC in a big way. Now that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is on the way to Steam, Sony could make their previously de-listed games available for everyone to purchase. As it stands, these five territories in the US are a decent enough start.
Out of all the PlayStation games to come out on PC, Helldivers 2 was the one that took everyone by surprise. Aside from releasing at the same time as the PS5 version, it grew in popularity very quickly, becoming really popular in the multiplayer scene. To this day, the game is still getting updates and fans are enjoying everything about shooting alien bugs for fascists.
