Here's our Honkai Star Rail Yanqing build! Honkai Star Rail has no shortage of characters that excel in AoE damage, but Yanqing is one of the premier single-target damage dealers and is a great boss killer. He scales very well with attack buffs and you should build your team around supporting him for damage.
Given he has tonnes of DPS relics, it can be easy to build out your Yanqing. As well as this, there are tonnes of great Light Cones to choose, given you a lot to play around with.
The best Honkai Star Rail Yanqing build
The following build is for Yanqing. You can find more Honkai Star Rail builds on our dedicated hub page.
To optimise Yanqing’s damage, you want to focus on getting as much Ice damage bonus, attack, and crit stats as possible from your relics and Light Cones.
Best Light Cone for Yanqing
Yanqing has three excellent Light Cones to choose from. You can go for Sleep Like The Dead, which is his best-in-slot option that boosts his crit stats. If you don’t have access to the five-star Light Cone, you can consider using In The Night or Only Silence Remains.
Sleep Like The Dead
Increases the wearer's CRIT DMG by 32%. When the wearer's Basic ATK or Skill does not result in a CRIT Hit, increases their CRIT Rate by 40% for one turn. This effect can be only triggered one time every three turns.
In The Night
Increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 12%. While the wearer is in battle, for every 10 SPD that exceeds 100, increase the wearer's Basic ATK and Skill DMG by 15%, and increase the CRIT DMG of their Ultimate by 8%. This effect can stack up to eight times.
Only Silence Remains
Increase the ATK of its wearer by 16%. If there are two or fewer enemies on the field, increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 12%.
Best relics for Yanqing
When farming for Yanqing’s relics, you should look for as much attack and crit rate as possible. Other great stats to look for include an Ice damage bonus and crit damage.
If you have access to his best-in-slot Light Cone, you can forego a bit of crit rate in favor of more crit damage or attack. Both the Hunter of Glacial Forest and Musketeer of Wild Wheat are excellent choices as they boost his damage by a significant amount.
Hunter of Glacial Forest
- 2-Piece Bonus: Increases Ice DMG by 10%.
- 4-Piece Bonus: After the wearer unleashes their Ultimate, their CRIT DMG increases by 25% for two turn(s).
Musketeer of Wild Wheat
- 2-Piece Bonus: ATK increases by 10%.
- 4-Piece Bonus: The wearer's SPD increases by 6% and Basic ATK DMG increases by 10%.
Farming relics in the early game is not recommended, and you should wait for your Trailblaze level to increase for better drop rates.
What are Yanqing’s abilities?
Skill | Description |
---|---|
Basic Attack | Deals Ice DMG equal to 50% of Yanqing's ATK to a single enemy. |
Skill | Deals Ice DMG equal to 110% of Yanqing's ATK to a single enemy and activates Empathic Sword Link for 1 turn. |
Ultimate | Increases Yanqing's CRIT Rate by 60%. When Empathic Sword Link is active, increases Yanqing's CRIT DMG by an extra 30% for 1 turn before dealing Ice DMG equal to 210% of Yanqing's ATK to a single enemy. |
Talent | When Empathic Sword Link is active, Yanqing is less likely to be attacked by enemies. Yanqing's CRIT Rate increases by 15% and his CRIT DMG increases by 15%. After Yanqing attacks an enemy, there is a 50% fixed chance to perform a follow-up attack, dealing Ice DMG equal to 25% of Yanqing's ATK to the enemy, which has a 65% base chance to Freeze the enemy for 1 turn. The Frozen target cannot take actions and take Ice DoT equal to 25% of Yanqing's ATK at the beginning of each turn. When Yanqing received DMG, the Empathic Sword Link effect will disappear. |

Trace 1 | When Yanqing attacks, deals additional Ice DMG equal to 30% of Yanqin's ATK to targets with Ice Weakness. |
Trace 2 | When Empathic Sword Link is active, Effect RES increases by 20%. |
Trace 3 | When a CRIT Hit is triggered, increases SPD by 10% for 2 turn(s). |
What are Yanqing’s Eidolons?
Eidolon Level | Effect |
---|---|
Level 1 | When Yanqing attacks a Frozen enemy, he deals Ice DMG equal to 100% of his ATK and removes the Frozen effect on the target immediately. |
Level 2 | When Empathic Sword Link is active, Energy Regeneration Rate increases by an additional 12%. |
Level 3 | Skill Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Basic ATK Lv. +1, up to a maximum of Lv. 10. |
Level 4 | When his current HP is above 80% of his Max HP, Yanqing's Ice RES PEN increases by 20%. |
Level 5 | Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. |
Level 6 | If an enemy is defeated while Yanqing is receiving buffs from his Ultimate, the duration of said buffs increases by 1 turn. |
Yanginq’s single-target damage output is one of the highest in the game and there is no real reason to go for Eidolons, especially as a free-to-play player. His first Eidolon is extremely powerful and it can be a great stopping point for players who want to invest heavily into the character.
