Stardew Valley continuously enriches gameplay with new tools and equipment that bring unique benefits. In the 1.6 update, developers introduced Mastery items, further enhancing the farming experience. Among these is the Anvil, a specialized tool designed to upgrade trinkets, adding an extra layer of strategy and excitement.
As with many Trinkets, Obtaining an Anvil in Stardew Valley requires dedication, as it is tied to Combat Mastery, which is unlocked only after significant in-game progress.
You'll need to level up various skills and gather essential materials to craft the Anvil. This guide will walk you through the steps to unlock and create the Anvil, helping you make the most of this powerful tool.
How to Get Anvil
The Anvil is a game-changing addition in Stardew Valley where you can re-roll the stats of trinkets and potentially boost their effects. To unlock the Anvil, you must unlock the Mastery System, which will be available when all your skills reach level 10. These skills include Farming, Mining, Foraging, Fishing, and Combat.
Each of these skills requires 15,000 experience points to max out, which can be earned by performing tasks related to the respective skill, such as farming crops, mining ores, or defeating monsters. Once you have maxed out all skills, you will start stacking Mastery Points by continuing to gain experience. For instance, earning 10,000 experience points after maxing out a skill will reward you with your first Mastery Point.
Once you have accumulated enough Mastery Points, visit the Mastery Cave in Cindersap Forest to claim Combat Mastery, unlocking the Anvil recipe. You need 50 iron bars to craft an Anvil, so make sure you have gathered enough iron ore and coal to smelt into them. Craft the Anvil using the Iron Bars and place it at a location that is accessible from your farm.
How to Use Anvil
The Anvil is straightforward to operate but demands considerable resources. Its main purpose is to re-roll the stats of trinkets to enhance their effects. However, the outcome is entirely random, and the statistics can sometimes degrade. To use the Anvil, you must have the trinket you wish to modify in your inventory and at least three Iridium Bars, as each re-roll consumes these precious materials.
Hold the trinket, interact with the Anvil, and wait for the process to complete. The re-forged trinket will now appear in your inventory with new stats you can check immediately. For example, if you reforge the Fairy Box trinket, you might summon a healing fairy companion at a certain level. You can also improve the fairy's healing power by re-rolling its stats.
Similarly, you can enhance the attributes of other trinkets, such as the Ice Rod or Golden Spur, to make them more effective in combat or exploration.
Remember that while the Anvil can significantly enhance gameplay, it requires a steady supply of Iridium Bars and patience, as the results are unpredictable.
