If you'd like to know how you can play Steam Games on your Oculus Quest 2, then read on as we've got you covered. The Oculus Quest 2 has a huge games library as it stands, and adding Steam titles to this mix just makes it even bigger.
Here's how to link everything up, plus some other handy information on what games you can expect to find with SteamVR.
How To Play Steam Games On Oculus Quest 2
Luckily the way to get Steam Games working on your Oculus Quest 2 is pretty simple, as long as you've got a powerful gaming PC to hand that's capable of playing VR games, and a couple of accessories and additional apps.
For a wired connection, you'll need the Oculus Link cable and the associated Oculus App. For wireless connectivity, the Oculus App is also required, alongside a stable, 5GHz WiFi connection, according to Oculus' own guidance.
How To Connect Your Oculus Quest 2 To PC (Wired)
- Open the Oculus App on your PC.
- Turn on your headset.
- Plug the USB-A end of the cable into your PC and the other end into your Quest.
- When prompted about data access, select 'Deny'.
- When prompted to Enable Oculus Link, select 'Enable'.
Once you've got Oculus Link setup, it should just be a case of jumping into SteamVR and accessing any installed games you have that you can play right away.
How To Connect Your Oculus Quest To PC (Wireless)
The official solution for getting a stable wireless connection from your Quest 2 to your PC runs via Meta's Air Link system that is available in beta on the Oculus App. To connect this up, follow the steps below:
- Open the Oculus App on your PC.
- Turn on your headset.
- On your PC, navigate to the Settings Menu.
- Go into the Beta Tab and turn on Air Link
- Head into the Settings Menu on your Quest 2.
- Go into Experimental Features and turn on Air Link.
Air Link should now appear as an option on the headset's Quick Start interface and as long as it's turned on from your PC and your PC is wired in via an Ethernet port, then you should be able to open up Steam VR and play installed games in the same way you would with a wired connection.
