Ubisoft’s Gods & Monsters project, first announced at E3 2019, is now known as Immortals: Fenyx Rising. It’s being made by the Ubisoft Quebec team behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Here’s what we know about the game so far.

What’s Immortals: Fenyx Rising About?

Ubisoft originally described the project as “a storybook adventure about a forgotten hero on a quest to save the Greek gods.”

At the time, the publisher wrote: “Embark on a journey to the Isle of the Blessed, taken over by dangerous creatures of mythology. Prove your legendary heroism by taking on their leader, Typhon, the deadliest monster in all of mythology in a face-off for the age. Explore a beautiful fantasy world where tricky puzzles, mysterious dungeons and heroic feats await. The journey will be as challenging and rewarding as the final destination.”

With its new title, Fenyx Rising, Ubisoft is centering the game’s official copy around its hero. “Play as Fenyx, a new winged demigod, on a quest to save the Greek gods and their home from a dark curse. Take on mythological beasts, master the legendary powers of the gods, and defeat Typhon, the deadliest Titan in Greek mythology, in an epic fight for the ages.”

Fenyx Rising Gameplay

We saw a lot more of Immortals: Fenyx Rising during Ubi’s September 2020 Ubisoft Forward broadcast, and it’s looking pretty great. The 11-minute gameplay video has a stronger sense of identity and vision than what we saw during the Gods & Monsters announcement at E3 2019.

Hopefully that’s a good sign.

Fenyx Rising Release Date

The game will be available on December 3.

Pre-Order Immortals: Fenyx Rising

You can pre-order the game now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Epic Games Store, Uplay, or Stadia.

Those who purchase either the PS4 or Xbox One version will get to upgrade to the next-gen edition at no additional cost. So that’s nice.
