Is Tekken 8 in Development?

July 20, 2022: Currently, Tekken 8 doesn't have a release date. Bandai Namco has confirmed that they'll be at Gamescom 2022, which will be in August. We may see a Tekken 8 announcement there.

Tekken 7 has been around and supported for six years straight now, with new characters and mechanics continuing to make the fighter a top-tier combatant that can keep up with other big names like Street Fighter V and Dragon Ball FighterZ.

While fans do appreciate all this support from Bandai Namco, many of them have wondered when exactly they will be getting Tekken 8 and if there will even be another entry in the franchise because Tekken 7 has been milked to death.

Is Tekken 8 in Development?

As of this writing, nothing about Tekken 8 has been announced and it looks like things will stay that way for the time being since Tekken 7 is still heavily played by many.

While we can’t predict when we will be seeing Tekken 8, there’s a good chance that it’s in development and will come out in this generation, at the very least, and keep a lot of things people like from Tekken 7, while also improving on its flaws.

Fans also want to see the story of Tekken 7 continue in Tekken 8 since, spoiler alert, that ends with Kazuya throwing Heihachi in a volcano (again), while a showdown with his son Jin gets a big tease (again).

Okay, so the story in Tekken games hasn’t been great and the bit where people get thrown into volcanoes has gotten pretty old but people are attached to the characters so let’s hope Tekken 8 continues that, hopefully with a fun mode similar to Tekken Force Mode from Tekken 3.

Bottom line, don’t expect to see any news about Tekken 8 until support for Tekken 7 finally stops, but that probably won’t happen for a while.

Tekken 7 is now available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
