Keanu Reeves will not only play Shadow in the upcoming Sonic 3 movie, but he'll also make an appearance in Sonic X Shadow Generations as the voice of the edgy hedgehog in the Movie Pack DLC.
With the film set to premiere in December, fans and those looking to get their first taste of Shadow lore will actually get to see how Reeves brings the character to life in October when Sonic X Shadow Generations launches on the 25th.
According to series producer Shun Nakamura, adding this piece of DLC content to the game is a great way to help both projects synergize, allowing fans of the game to get a glimpse at what they can expect when the movie releases. On the other hand, the Sonic fans who started with the movies can try out the gaming side of things to start dipping their toes into the vast collection of titles.
On top of that, the addition of a Shadow Movie DLC gives SEGA a reason to continue celebrating the Year of Shadow, with the character featuring prominently in multiple projects throughout the year.

Now, if you were worried about potential spoilers or needing to play the DLC to further understand the story of Shadow in the film, fear not, as Nakamura also confirmed that the bonus content doesn't have any story ties to the movie, with the only two connections being that Keanu Reeves portrays this version of Shadow and that players will get to explore several locations within Tokyo, where the movie will take place, at least partially.
Nakamura stated: "This content will not have a story which per se that would relate directly to the movie. Rather, as you can see in the trailer, it will be set in Tokyo, where Shadow visits in the movie."
