A new Fortnite crossover is always on the horizon, but a Kingdom Hearts Fortnite collab is an extremely unexpected one. Nevertheless, the lovable Sora is allegedly making his battle royale debut in a future season.

With Kingdom Hearts 4 in development for Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, Square Enix may be seeking heavy promotion. An easy promotion has reportedly been decided on: giving Sora a gun!

According to Square Enix and Atlas leaker Mbk, Epic Games is working on a Kingdom Hearts Fortnite collab. With rights holder Disney recently investing heavily in Epic Games for Fortnite crossover events, Sora's arrival in the third-person battle royale game marks a major milestone in that deal.

Following the recent Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration, seeing characters like Sora and Roxas blasting through Master Chief and Goku for a sweet viccy royale won't be too shocking. However, Sora, known for being light-hearted and forgiving, pumping a 12-gauge shotgun into Zuko and Paul Atreides represents a drastic change in tone.

Of course, we shouldn’t expect non-original Kingdom Hearts characters to appear in this Fortnite crossover. If the collaboration releases, Donald Duck, Goofy, and King Mickey likely won’t make the cut. With Disney firmly against its classic characters committing heinous crimes, seeing Donald Duck equipped with an SMG would be very surprising.

It’s worth noting that not all Fortnite crossovers in development end up releasing. For example, a Doctor Who collaboration found by Fortnite dataminers never released. In fact, series showrunner Russell T. Davies confirmed that the event will not be happening.

On the other hand, Disney’s investment in Epic Games does make the arrival of a Kingdom Hearts Fortnite crossover event a likely possibility. Even if some fans may not like the characters’ inclusion in the game, it could bring more eyes to the franchise ahead of Kingdom Hearts 4.

Fortnite is available to play for free on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile.
