Despite continued controversy and backlash surrounding NFTs, Konami has confirmed it'll keep selling them going forward. Having recently sold Castlevania NFTs for the franchise’s 35th anniversary, Konami seems to think they're worth the backlash.
As part of Konami’s December financial results, the publisher confirmed they had no plans to stop. Offering a short statement, they confirmed:
"We will also be selling NFTs in an effort to preserve content that has been loved by our customers as commemorative art."

Konami Will Continue Making NFTs to “Preserve Content” for Fans
Konami’s decision won’t surprise many gamers, as the company's previously shown less interest in console development, focusing efforts on pachinko machines rather than new titles. However, despite constant criticism from fans and critics alike, the company has recently seen acclaim over Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and Castlevania Advance Collection.
NFTs aside, it remains unknown what other plans Konami has for its IP. There's been rumours of a Metal Gear Solid remake coming to PlayStation 5 but so far, that remains unconfirmed. We'll keep you informed if that changes.
