If you count yourself among the League of Legends elite, alongside streamers like Tyler1, you’ve probably dreamed of winning one of the game’s top esports tournaments one day.
Well, if you can manage to put down Loldle for long enough to make this dream a reality, the trophy you end up hoisting might look a little different soon.
This is thanks to a new partnership between Riot Games and Tiffany & Co, which will see the League of Legends World Championship trophy be designed by the jeweller going forwards.
One of League’s top esports prizes is getting a makeover
The prize in question, the Summoner’s Cup, has been undergoing a bit of a revamp, with a brand new sterling silver version, set to weigh a heft 44 pounds, set to be unveiled later this month.
This isn’t the first League trophy that Tiffany & Co have worked on though, with the company having previously designed and crafted the LOL Pro League’s iconic Silver Dragon Cup, introducing a version of that trophy which commemorated the tenth anniversary of League esports in China.
“The Summoner’s Cup is a symbol of greatness in esports and the crowning achievement in League of Legends,” said Global Head of League of Legends Esports Naz Aletaha, adding: “Tiffany & Co is a storied brand and the preeminent designer of the world's greatest sports trophies. We’re honoured to partner with them to celebrate our past, present, and future World Champions.”
Alexandre Arnault, Tiffany & Co’s Executive Vice President of Product and Communication, echoed this sentiment, saying: “We are excited to continue our partnership with League of Legends Esports and the opportunity to be a part of the brand evolution for the world’s most popular esport.”
He added: “Creating the Summoner’s Cup is another important moment for Tiffany in the world of esports and an exciting new chapter in our 160-year legacy handcrafting sports trophies.”
The new trophy will be up for grabs in this year’s League of Legends World Championship, which is set to take place across North America throughout September, October, and November.
