August 3: The Pokémon Presents showcase gave us a great look at Koraidon and Miraidon.

Game Freak kindly gave us another trailer for this year's upcoming Pokémon games, and it was packed with new information. Even the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Legendaries have been revealed!

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Generation Nine of our beloved franchise, will release on November 18 this year and are set in an as-yet-unnamed region based on the Iberian Peninsula of Europe. We've seen the starters, and a couple of new Pokémon, as well as new Professors and the rival to our trainers. But let's get into what the Legendaries are for Scarlet and Violet.

While we wait for Generation Nine to release, we've collected all of the confirmed Pokémon in one handy Pokédex list right here, as well as everything we know about Scarlet and Violet.

What Are The Scarlet And Violet Legendaries?

August 3 saw a Pokémon Presents showcase that included a hefty trailer for Scarlet and Violet, now revealed as taking place in the Paldea region. The trailer showed us more about the two legendaries, too.

The two legendaries appear in one version of the game each, and they allegedly 'have powers that far surpass those of other Pokémon'. It is unclear how we meet Koraidon and Miraidon, and whether we can battle with them, or have to catch them in order to use them.

The two also act as transport Pokémon, which suggests we may meet them sooner rather than later in the game so we can use them to get around the Paldean landscape. The two legendaries not only transport Trainers across the ground but swim and fly too, meaning we will likely not get any other transport Pokémon in the game.

Without further ado, here's Koraidon and Miraidon, the new legendary Pokémon.

Koraidon

Koraidon, Pokémon Scarlet's legendary, appears as a lizard on its hind legs with some almost plumage-like features. Interestingly, its chest has a tire-shaped protrusion, yet instead of using it as wheels, it runs on all fours.

For now, the speculation is that it will be a Fighting/Dragon type, but we will need to wait for confirmation.

Miraidon

In contrast to Koraidon, Miraidon is a sleek, metallic lizard-shaped Pokémon. Because of this, we assume it will be Electric/Dragon typing, which falls in line with other Electric Legendaries like Zapdos.

Similar to Koraidon's chest tire, Miraidon has... jet engine feet. This is interesting as 'mirai' translates to future, and 'raidon' roughly means ride-on. Miraidon zooms smoothly around, instead of running.

What Will The Theme Of The Legendaries Be?

The theme has not been confirmed with any story or background, but it is looking like another time or time-travel-based game. Following on from Legends: Arceus and its' protagonist from the future, and Ultra Sun and Moon with its' interdimensional wormholes, means that Scarlet and Violet are continuing the scientific theme.

The two new professors, Sada and Turo, appear to be dressed in prehistoric and futuristic clothes respectively, which matches Koraidon and Miradon's themed appearances. The game logos themselves have fonts reminiscent of this theme too.

Even the design of the game's boxes are said to 'have a similar look to the covers of old books', which relate to new stories and old ways.
