When is the Litwick Pokemon GO Community Day?

The Litwick Pokémon GO Community Day takes place on Saturday, October 15, 2022. It runs for a three-hour period, between 2pm and 5pm in your local time.

As such, you'll have three focused hours to catch as many Litwick as you can. The candle-shaped Pokémon will appear almost exclusively in the wild, so it'll be very hard to miss it if you're trying to farm candies. Even better, there's a chance of you getting a special shiny Litwick if you're lucky!

What is the special timed research for the Litwick Pokémon GO Community Day?

Of course, each Community Day in Pokémon GO comes with its own set of special research for you to undertake. This usually constitutes several new objectives to complete within the three hours, with the reward of extra prizes if you manage it.

The upcoming Litwick Community Day is no different! First off is a bunch of timed research, which runs during the event. Each research task you complete grants you a free Unova Stone, with a maximum of five on offer.

On top of that, you can pay $1 to access an exclusive research task called Field Notes: Trick of the Light. Niantic has yet to announce what you'll be able to get for completing the research, but it's bound to be worth your while.

How do I get the Poltergeist Litwick move

If you want any Litwick you catch during the Community Day to have the Poltergeist move, there's a way to go about it.

Poltergeist is the featured move this Community Day, and to get it you need to evolve a Lampent, which is the first Litwick evolution. Doing so during the event hours, or the five hours immediately after, will grant you a Chandelure that has Poltergeist as its Charged move.

Given there will be plenty of Litwick to catch, you'll easily be able to amass enough candy to evolve one into a Chandelure by the time the Community Day ends. Nice and easy!

Is Poltergeist good for Chandelure?

In a nutshell, no, the Community Day Poltergeist move is far from the best option to run on Chandelure. Though most Community Day moves are stellar limited-time options, this one isn't.

Should I evolve Litwick during October Community Day?

Because the Poltergeist move featured during the October Community Dya isn't very good, you're actually better off not evolving Lampent into Chandelure until the day after the October Community Day.

This will save you from having to waste TMs on swapping out the move for a better one.

Is Litwick good in Pokémon GO?

Of course, none of this grinding would be worth it if Litwick wasn't a good Pokémon in its own right. As with most Pokémon yet to evolve, it isn't particularly strong in battle.

Its best combination of moves is somewhere between Ember, Astonish, and Flame Burst. At their strongest you'll only do just over 5 damage per second, so in raid boss fights or against Team GO Rocket, Litwick won't make much of an impact.

Fortunately, Chandelure is a Pokémon worth investing in, and trying to evolve this Community Day. While it is vulnerable to a lot of types, including dark, rock, and water, it can do some serious damage against normal-type Pokémon.

On top of that, the combination of Fire Spin and Shadow Ball will net you over 16 damage per second, which is better but still somewhat unremarkable.

You'll still want to partake in the Litwick Community Day, but probably just to complete your Pokédex, rather than finding a new Pokémon to use in battle.

When it was first introduced Chandelure was a meta pick, with its evolution conditions being well worth aiming for. Like Gengar, it's a glass cannon type, meaning while it can't take much of a beating, it can certainly churn out heavy burst damage.
