What is soul flaying?
Soul flaying is a brutal Umbral Lamp ability that slows enemies down as you literally rip out their souls. When the soul's exposed, it can be attacked and even destroyed, leaving your adversary vulnerable to an incredibly damaging grievous strike.
The multi-step process may be one that gets you killed against tougher enemies, but a successful soul flay forces the defeated enemy to drop unique currencies and items.
How to soul flay in Lords of the Fallen
As mentioned previously, ripping out a soul takes a bit of work - the steps are listed below. It's also worth noting that you'll need soul flay charges, though environmental soul flays do not have this requirement.
- Lock onto the target via middle mouse or pressing down the right stick.
- Raise the Umbral Lamp with left CTRL or left trigger.
- Flay the soul by holding down right-click or right trigger
- Pull the soul out by moving in any direction.
While the soul is exposed, hitting it will replace the enemy's health with withered health. Fill up the enemy's health bar with this nasty stuff and it will stagger, setting up the grievous strike mentioned previously.
