Marvel Rivals Season 1 has just arrived, and players are already enjoying the inclusion of the Fantastic Four family, specifically Marvel’s beloved couple, Reed and Sue Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman.
However, now that the game has been out for over a month, players have already chosen their mains, attained Lord Status, and climbed the leaderboards. Of the 35 characters in the Marvel Rivals roster, there are bound to be a few that are particularly annoying to deal with, right?
Here’s a personal list of 10 of the most annoying heroes to fight against in Marvel Rivals:
Black Panther
A skilled T’Challa can decimate your entire backline, which is particularly dangerous if your teammates go Leeroy Jenkins at the nearest enemy. A busy team means that your backline is also occupied, but if you’re not observant, you’ll soon notice that your healers are getting picked off one by one.
That’s Black Panther’s handiwork, aided by his frustratingly short cooldowns. His cooldowns refresh every time he kills someone with a Vibranium Mark. Strategists are easy prey for his deadly kit, so focus on T’Challa when he dives into the backline. Otherwise, it’s GG for your team.
Spider-Man
If there’s a Peter Parker on the enemy team, pray that they’re not skilled. A good Spider-Man can quickly eliminate a squishy hero with his one-two combo, especially Strategists like Mantis and Luna. If you notice your teammates complaining in chat, it’s time to adjust your strategy and focus on Spider-Man.
He’s elusive, with web-slinging abilities that make him too fast for mere mortals. Crowd control (CC) abilities like Mantis’ Sleep, Luna’s Freeze, and even Peni’s Web are essential to bringing him down. Sorry, Uncle Ben.
Rocket Raccoon
Rocket Raccoon is the most annoying of all the Strategists in the game. He’s small, has two rocket dashes for quick evasion, and his B.R.B. machine can bring back fallen allies. That’s a lot of utility packed into one tiny raccoon.
If you’re trying to chase him down, good luck. His passive Wall Climb makes him harder to catch, even if it is admittedly cute to look at. If there’s a Rocket on the enemy team, find his B.R.B. machine first. Otherwise, you’re fighting a 7v6.
Loki
Marvel Rivals’ Loki has a kit almost too true to his lore. His abilities revolve around deception and illusions, making him a tricky Strategist to eliminate.
With countless clones on the map, it’s hard to tell where the real Loki is. His Ultimate, which steals an opponent’s Ultimate Ability, makes him a formidable foe. Taking him down is challenging, especially with his unlimited invisibility and immortality healing runes. Telling your team to shoot those Green Rocks above his head can possibly save you a round.
Luna Snow
Luna Snow isn’t annoying in the traditional sense, but her Ultimate ability is a major problem in higher ranks. Her Fate of Both Worlds ability makes everyone inside her disco circle unkillable, posing a significant challenge to the enemy team.
She’s relatively easy to eliminate due to her lack of mobility outside of sliding and freezing opponents. It’s best to focus on her before any major team fight; otherwise, you’ll be stuck watching her mini-concert for 12 seconds without securing any kills.
Iron Fist
There are two types of Iron Fist players: those who pick their battles wisely and those who die within the first three seconds of a team fight. There is no in-between.
A dangerous Iron Fist main (see: Necros) can be a nightmare. While he isn’t invincible, his damage output and quadruple jump make him a significant threat. When he shouts in Chinese, it’s time to pray he’s not focusing on you.
Like Black Panther and Spider-Man, Iron Fist is a flanker, and your team must focus on him when he dives into the backline.
Iron Man
After countless hours of playing hero shooters, one thing has become clear: no one ever looks up. If your team doesn’t watch the skies, it’s game over.
Iron Man is a powerhouse, especially when paired with Hulk’s Gamma Boost Team-Up. If left unchecked, he can nuke your entire team with his “MAXIMUM PULSE!” attack, causing massive frustration.
Hulk
I have immense respect for Hulk mains. They’re essentially the Marvel Rivals equivalent of Winston from Overwatch. Hulk jumps in, lands a few hits, activates his shield, and retreats to his team.
His kit is designed for short engagements, but what makes him annoying is his Gamma Boost Team-Up with Iron Man and Doctor Strange. To counter this, it’s essential to focus on Iron Man first. Otherwise, the trio will decimate your team with their enhanced Gamma powers.
Doctor Strange
A skilled Doctor Strange player can use his Shields and Portals effectively. You won’t realize what hit you until he opens a portal above you, casts the Eye of Agamotto, and your entire team is wiped out.
To counter him, focus fire on his shield. Once it’s broken, he’s vulnerable, as his only mobility tool is levitation.
Moon Knight
Moon Knight has become a terrifying presence in the meta thanks to his buffs in Season 1, which boosted his Ultimate ability’s damage. Expect some of your teammates to drop when he calls upon the moon, as his Ultimate is currently overpowered.
His Ankhs are another issue. A good team will destroy them immediately, while a bad team will ignore them and blame the Healers for their demise.
That’s it for now. While there are currently 35 heroes on the roster, these 10 are so annoying they can tilt players, especially when facing skilled opponents. As for me, I’m hoping to climb out of Platinum rank so I can finally access hero bans to avoid these 10 picks.
