The world’s smartest man stretches his way into the Marvel Rivals roster. Joining alongside Invisible Woman will kickstart the launch of Season 1.
With his wit and impressive elastic abilities, Reed Richards is a dynamic new hero whose elongated arms can disrupt the battlefield.
We’ve already broken down his abilities in a separate piece, but this guide will help you fully master the Fantastic Four’s head honcho, Mr. Fantastic himself.
Is He a Duelist or a Vanguard? Yes.
Mr. Fantastic’s presence on the battlefield is an odd but very important choice. He can switch between two modes depending on his performance in-game, allowing him to be either a Vanguard or a Duelist.
His most important skill is his Elastic Strength. This empowered state activates when Reed fills his passive ‘Elasticity’ Meter. Once it reaches the maximum, he transforms into a big, stretchy brute with double the health and damage.
Note that his moveset is limited to swinging his elongated arms in this mode, locking other abilities. This transformation is especially useful when your team’s other tank dies or when you need to contest points.
His Hitbox Has Lingering Damage
The craziest aspect of Mr. Fantastic’s kit is that his elongated arms deal lingering damage. His primary attack is a medium-range punch that can be dragged through multiple enemies, damaging anyone in its path. It functions similarly to a flamethrower but with a rubber band hero instead of flames.
He Can Easily Close Gaps
Mr. Fantastic’s GRAB ability makes him an agile hero. He can easily grab an ally to get close to them, granting a bonus shield. If he grapples toward an enemy, it deals damage, making him formidable in tight areas and against heroes with low mobility.
He can also grab two enemies together and slam them against each other. This is purely comical, but imagine the sick plays this can have in high ranks.
On the downside, Mr. Fantastic lacks mobility but excels in defensiveness. When he’s running low on health and out of abilities, he’s just a rubber band stretched too thin.
He Can Deflect Ultimates
His defensive ability allows him to grow in size and absorb enemy attacks, deflecting them back. Dangerous ultimates like Iron Man’s ‘Maximum Pulse’ and Magneto’s ‘Meteor M’ become less of a threat to a skilled Mr. Fantastic main.
His Ultimate Bounces Six Times
You won’t hear Winter Soldier’s iconic “Again!” multiple times here, but you will get bonked out of existence with Mr. Fantastic’s ultimate. He bounces in a small area up to six times, making it ideal for hitting clustered opponents. It pairs perfectly with Groot’s ultimate or Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto.
Note that he can bounce a maximum of six times and must hit an enemy to continue bouncing. Missing a target will end the ultimate prematurely.
Best Paired with Invisible Woman
Lastly, Mr. Fantastic is best paired with Invisible Woman. As one of the rare functional married couples in Marvel comics, Reed Richards and Sue Storm work exceptionally well together in-game. Sue’s Team-Up ability grants Reed additional defensive power and bonus health, making him even more resilient.
