Marvel Rivals players have long been asking for a good Captain America skin, and NetEase answered with the recent Infinity War look for Captain America.
What’s fun is that the bundle also comes with an emote, and it pretty much harkens to the Mad Titan Thanos and his brief interaction with Cap in the movie.
Cap’s Thanos Emote
The RivalsLeaks account on X (formerly Twitter) showed the emote where Cap tries to stop Thanos by grabbing the Infinity Gauntlet. Check this out:
For context, here’s the scene where the emote is drawing inspiration from. It’s the part in Infinity War where Cap and the rest have to stop Thanos from getting to Vision, and he makes one last stand—even surprising Thanos with his strength.
The account also provides a closer look at the Gauntlet's model in the game:
While some fans would think that this would be a teaser for Thanos, it doesn’t look like there are any plans to bring him into the game, at least not for a year. Based on the leaked characters for the game, it seems that NetEase is more focused on the drop of the Fantastic Four for now, followed by the arrival of several mutant characters and the X-Mansion map.
Movie Skins in Marvel Rivals
Though Marvel Rivals does give some space or some comic-accurate and original skins, there have been some MCU skins that have made it to the game. Besides the Infinity War skin, there are 13 other skins in the game including skins for:
- Iron Man (Avengers: Endgame)
- Spider-Man (Spider-Man: No Way Home)
- Thor (Thor: Love and Thunder)
- Black Widow (the Black Widow solo movie)
- Scarlet Witch (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness)
- Namor (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever)
- Loki (Loki Season 2)
- Wolverine (Deadpool and Wolverine)
- Every available Guardian character (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3)
So far, the only movie skins to ever make it to the game have been cosmetics from the MCU, but hopefully the devs have plans for cosmetics from before the MCU was out including Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield Spider-Man as well as any of the Fox X-Men costumes.
There’s also Thomas Jane Punisher (complete with trench coat) and maybe even classic skins from the Fantastic Four movie that was never officially released. How about Lou Ferrigno Hulk or Japanese Spider-Man?
Season 1, Eternal Night Falls
Though Season 1 may be vampire-themed with the Eternal Night Falls event, the game has decided to promote the Fantastic Four—seeing that the MCU has also dropped the first teaser for their upcoming reboot starring Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby.
Hopefully, future trailers also give a teaser for Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, because a lot of fans may want to see Marvel Rivals Doom get a change in cosmetics as well.
Marvel Rivals is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
