Since its launch earlier this December, Marvel Rivals has steadily increased in popularity. The third-person shooter from NetEase Games features a star-studded cast that includes every major Marvel character, from Iron Man to Moon Knight.

While the game is becoming as popular as ever, players are having difficulties finding good-quality matches in ranked mode mainly because of the lack of one particular feature: draft bans.

Banning heroes or characters in any competitive online game is usually the norm for many titles. This mechanic allows for a much more dynamic meta than just sticking to the usual drafts in normal matches.

It forces you and the enemy team to properly draft around hero synergies to maximize your team's effectiveness and take advantage of your hero abilities.

However, Marvel Rivals only introduces this mechanic to players once they reach the Diamond rank. Anyone playing below this high rank will have to make do with all heroes being available in all matches without focusing too much on meta and drafting.

This results in games with no variety and sometimes end with a stomp favoring the opposing team.

Players in the Marvel Rivals subreddit say that the game gets better as you reach Diamond rank, thanks to bans. It means that players are playing to win and are more aware of how the draft works.

Others who haven't reached the said rank also shared that the ban has yet to reach. Rivals should always be available for the lowest rank.

If you are a fan of the latest team-based shooter, you will have to practice and grind your way up to experience a change of quality in your games. Until then, you will have to navigate various lower-quality games in the lower ranks.
