Spider-Man is arguably one of the trickiest characters to play with in Marvel Rivals, though mastering it has its share of rewards. Packing in crazy-good mobility with many combos and abilities, this character is certainly a catch.
One of Spidey’s abilities includes the Spider-Tracer, which isn’t properly explained through the game tutorials or tips. Read on to learn more about Spider-Tracers and how to use them effectively in a fight.
What Is a Spider-Tracer and How to Use it in Marvel Rivals
Simply put, Spider-Tracers are markers (usually denoted by a Spidey sign on the enemy) that significantly enhance the damage you can do with Peter Parker. Activated through the character’s alternate attack, Web-Clusters, each Spider-Tracer typically lasts about 3 seconds, so it is vital to make each second count.
A Web-Cluster can store 5 charges at a time, denoted below your reticle while playing with the character. It is vital to note here that Spider-Tracers aren’t activated only through the Web-Clusters—you must follow up with a combo. This could be the character's basic move (Spider-Power) or an uppercut (Amazing Combo).
But the usage of this by-product of abilities isn’t only restricted to matches, it is also a part of the Daily Challenges and seasonal Heroic Journeys which include various types of challenges for different characters. While some of these challenges may be reserved only for online matches, you can also perform most of the Spider-Tracer challenges in AI matches.
An excellent example is using the Spider-Tracer ten times on your enemies. This is one of the challenges included in the seasonal Heroic Journey.
While the Web-Clusters can store 5 charges at a time, it takes 3 seconds to regenerate each charge. Hence, being smart with the Tracers is crucial, as fighting with multiple enemies at once may put the Tracer storage to the test.
Using Spider-Tracers Effectively In Battle
Regardless of the follow-ups you use to trigger Spider-Tracers, there’s always an extra 45 damage to your enemies. While this is good news, it will only prove deadly if you can make that 3-second window granted by the Spider-Tracers count.
And while Spidey packs in numerous combos and attacks that’ll come in handy when dealing damage to the opponents with Spider-Tracers enabled, certain moves perform far better than others.
For instance, the Amazing Combo. With the Spider-Trackers enabled, this ability thrases the opponent into the air with a powerful uppercut and can deal a whopping 110 damage. You can also use the Get Over Here! Ability, which, during the Tracers enabled, sends Spidey slinging towards his opponent.
Using this can be tricky, though, especially if the target is surrounded by allies that can, in turn, deal you more damage than you do.
