Marvel Snap is a card game that involves building power across three board locations, which is done by placing down cards that each have unique abilities and levels. The victor is decided by whoever has the most power in at least two out of these three locations by the end of six rounds.
There are currently six abilities present in Marvel Snap. Some of these are easy to understand, but one, in particular, has confused a lot of players. So you might be wondering, how to discard cards in Marvel Snap. That's what we're here to answer!

How to discard cards in Marvel Snap
To discard in Marvel Snap, all you need to do is simply play the card with the Discard ability by placing it down at a location, and its ability will trigger. Some of the cards will target random cards to be discarded when played, while others will specify which cards they will remove, based on power or energy costs.
There are six abilities present in Marvel Snap.
- Discard - When played, these will remove other cards from play.
- Destroy - Cards are taken from the location and destroyed.
- Move - Moves the card from one location to another.
- No Ability - No specific ability in play from this card.
- On Reveal - The ability will trigger when the card is placed down on a location and flipped over at the end of the turn.
- Ongoing - After being placed and revealed, the ability will continue to trigger until the game finishes, or the card is destroyed.
However, in Marvel Snap, the Discard ability has a lot less natural synergy, and in order to use it successfully, then you will need to plan ahead in your deck building.
Which cards are best for discarding in Marvel Snap?
Since not all discard abilities work equally in Marvel Snap, it's good to know which ones are most effective. For our money, you'll want a combination of Colleen Wing, Gambit, and Apocalypse in your deck.
Some, such as Colleen Wing, will remove the card with the lowest energy from your hand when played, and are easy to plan for. Others, such as Gambit, will get rid of a card from random from your hand while destroying an enemy card too. This is a risky manouevre, as you could love a high-power card.

This deck is one that will require a lot of skill to build. While some cards, such as Apocalypse, will reappear with +4 power when discarded and are begging to be used in a Discard deck, not all of them will work well with this mechanic. The last thing you want is for your best card to be randomly selected and disappear from play.
But don't let this setback stop you from trying this style of play out. With the right cards and some forethought, a Discard deck could make for a truly unstoppable force.
