If you're wondering about the Marvel’s Wolverine release date, then look no further. Wolverine is a game that many fans are eagerly waiting for. It is being developed by Insomniac Games, the same studio behind the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

The game will feature the iconic mutant hero with his adamantium claws and healing abilities, as well as his complex and violent history. Here is everything we know so far about Marvel’s Wolverine, including its release date, platforms, and core gameplay features.

When is the Marvel’s Wolverine release date?

Marvel’s Wolverine does not have a confirmed release date yet. The game was announced in September 2021 with a short teaser trailer, but no gameplay footage or release window was revealed. The trailer showed Wolverine sitting at a bar, with his claws ready to pop out as someone approached him from behind. The trailer also hinted at some possible locations and enemies, such as Madripoor and the Hand.

The game is still in very early development, according to Insomniac Games. It is not expected to be released until after Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is set to launch in 2023. A possible release date for Marvel’s Wolverine could be 2024, but this is only a guess based on the development cycle of Insomniac Games’ previous titles.

What platforms is Marvel’s Wolverine on?

Marvel’s Wolverine will be exclusive to PS5, and will not come to other consoles or PC. This is not surprising, considering that Insomniac Games is owned by Sony and has a long history of making PlayStation exclusives. The game will take advantage of the PS5’s hardware and features, such as the SSD, ray tracing, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers.

It’s highly likely that the game will eventually come to PC, but judging by previous PlayStation ports, don’t expect to see any adamantium claws unsheathed on that platform for a few years after the game arrives on PS5. For example, Horizon Zero Dawn came to PC three years after its PS4 release, and Days Gone came to PC two years after its PS4 release.

Will Marvel’s Wolverine be released on PS4?

Marvel’s Wolverine is a game that will only be available on the PlayStation 5, according to the official announcement teaser. The teaser did not mention the PS4 at all, suggesting that the game will not be compatible with the previous generation of consoles.

This is not surprising, since Insomniac Games, the developer of Marvel’s Wolverine, also has Spider-Man 2 as a PS5 console exclusive. The last time Insomniac released a game on Xbox was in 2016, with Song of the Deep. Therefore, it is very unlikely that Marvel’s Wolverine will come out on Xbox or previous-gen PlayStations as well.

Marvel’s Wolverine plot and characters

The story of Marvel’s Wolverine has not been fully revealed yet, but it is expected to follow the characters of Wolverine and his adventures. The game's developers have stated that they intend to take a more adult tone with the title and that they will respect the DNA of what makes the character so popular while looking for opportunities to make it feel fresh and truly reflect the Insomniac spirit.

The upcoming PS5 exclusive is also expected to incorporate some of Wolverine's classic story tropes and Sabretooth, as Wolverine's archenemy, will almost certainly be featured. It's also being reported that it will take place in the years before Logan joined the X-Men, and the crime-ridden Singapore-inspired city of Madripoor will be featured.

According to Gamespot, Marvel’s Wolverine is expected to be rated M and will likely be bloody and mature. The game is not expected to be a fully open-world title like Spider-Man was, but rather will take its cues from the two recent God of War games.

Everything we know about Marvel’s Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine will be a standalone game that will explore the character’s unique abilities and stories. Insomniac Games intends to create a mature gaming experience, reflecting Wolverine’s nature as a living weapon. The game will not be a direct adaptation of any particular comic book or movie storyline but will draw inspiration from various sources. The game will also have its own original twists and surprises.

Marvel’s Wolverine will be directed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who previously worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales as creative director and game director, respectively.

The title will likely feature many familiar faces from the X-Men universe, as well as some new ones. The teaser trailer showed a sign for the Princess Bar, located in Madripoor, a fictional island nation in Southeast Asia often associated with Wolverine and other mutants.

The trailer also revealed a man drinking in an empty bar when someone suddenly approached him with a knife. The protagonist senses his presence and reacts by popping out his claws from his fists. The audience can instantly recognise him as Wolverine. The knife-wielding man, however, remains a mystery, so the trailer leaves us with more questions than answers.
