Sony’s PlayStation Store has mistakenly leaked the release date of Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater. Not only do we get the game’s release date, but we also get a ton of information for this promising remake. In addition to the leaks, it looks like the PlayStation 5 version is going to have exclusive content that’s very familiar to those who played the PS2 original.
According to the accidental leak (via Gematsu), Konami’s remake of Snake Eater will be coming out on August 28, 2025. Considering how this game was supposed to come out last year, getting more details this way is pretty shocking. Still, we imagine that fans of the beloved original can’t wait to get their hands on it.
As well as the leaked release date, Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater will also have the classic Snake vs Monkey mode. That’s right, after missing for years, the original Ape Escape crossover is coming back in full force with this remake, and because Sony owns the right to Ape Escape, this is probably a PS5-exclusive feature.
Despite what some people might say, Snake Eater is considered by many to be one of the best installments of this franchise. From the blockbuster action movie-like plot to the development that Naked Snake gets, it’s an integral part of the Metal Gear lore. It will be interesting to see how this version differs from the original, aside from the better graphics and more streamlined gameplay.
Luckily, fans who still want to play the original before Metal Gear Delta comes out can do so. Konami recently released the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection and fans can purchase each of the three games separately. Snake Eater is the third game in Sony’s Solid series, but anyone can pick it up and enjoy this political thriller.
Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater comes out on August 28, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. For more interesting console news, check out how Final Fantasy XVI might be coming to Xbox Series systems.
