With the release of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, everyone’s hoping that Vol. 2 will finally include a re-release of Metal Gear Solid 4. There have been a couple of hints about this port finally getting out of PS3 prison and Snake voice actor David Hayter may have confirmed it.

On Twitter, Hayter posted a picture of himself with a statue of an older Snake from MGS4, with the caption “Had a pretty cool meeting the other day.” It’s far from a subtle hint, but one that fans will take since the fourth installment has not been released on anything outside of the PS3.

Many fans assumed that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be a part of Master Collection Vol. 2 and though it seems obvious, it will still be shocking. Fans of the franchise are used to playing this game on their PS3, where it doesn’t have a consistent frame rate, but is still a great-looking title.

Hopefully, Konami does a better job with the port of MGS4, as Master Collection Vol. 1 launched to middling reviews. While MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3 are undeniable hits, the games performed worse than the PS3 collection of these titles. As if that wasn’t bad enough, MGS2 and MGS3 were unplayable on Steam Deck, which is embarrassing since these are essentially spruced-up PS2 games.

It will be interesting to see what games will be ported alongside Metal Gear Solid 4, although previous leaks have found Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid 5. There’s a small part of us that’s hoping The Twin Snakes, a Gamecube remake of MGS1, also gets ported here, though we have our doubts.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was beloved upon its release, although many did rightfully complain about the long cutscenes. Granted, these games have always had long cinematics, but MGS4 does take things a step too far. Hideo Kojima always wanted to make movies and these games are proof of that.
