Speculation around what the next big GTA Online update could involve has erupted over the past 24 hours. This is largely thanks to some interesting discoveries by data miners, which could hint at a forthcoming DLC involving GTA 5 protagonist Michael De Santa.

Originally uncovered by VG247, the discoveries consisted of a new spawn point and NPC, both of which seemed to be possible harbingers of a future update similar to December 2021’s The Contract update. This time, however, the focus could be on Michael’s adventures in the movie business.

Now, more fuel has been added to the rumour fire as Ned Luke, Michael’s voice actor, has retweeted an article discussing the findings.

GTA Online Possible Michael DLC Hints Retweeted by Ned Luke

Luke’s tweet, which has seemingly gotten the wider GTA community talking about the possibility of a Michael DLC, saw him add only a shrugging emoji as a caption, before replying to add a facepalm emoji a short time later.

Naturally, these vague and non-committal responses did nothing but amplify the speculation, with users on Reddit quickly getting in on the party and discussing what they think rollschuh2282 and Tez2’s findings could mean for GTA Online.

Posting to begin the thread in the GTA Online subreddit, user Gsampson97 shared a screenshot of Luke’s tweet, captioning it with the suggestion that it could be alluding to an update arriving this summer.

Several users reacted with excitement to the tweet, with homeless8X saying: “Michael and mansions! Please Rockstar!” with Unusual_Fork adding: “That would be so damn cool and I'd have a reason to play again.”

However, others were more sceptical, with user LogOfOne saying: “The shrug emoji is giving mixed signals tbh. Not expecting anything so I won't be disappointed” and KrennicTM adding: “It's just gonna be an hour long cutscene of him sitting at his pool, staring at the sun, drinking and complaining”.

Another user summed up the mixed reception to Luke’s tweet with their reply to LogOfOne’s comment, saying: “no way he'd even acknowledge it if it wasn't true. That, combined with the information we got from (the) leaks makes me think it's gonna be a Michael/cinema related update. Pretty hyped ngl.”

Meanwhile, some other users made clear their fear of receiving an endless stream of phone calls from Michael every time they log in. One went so far as to suggest that they’d prefer a GTA IV-inspired update instead, christening it “the Return of Niko: bowling with vengeance”.

Regardless of where this story goes next, make sure to follow us for more GTA Online updates as new content, possibly involving Michael, is released.
