Still reeling from Bethesda’s announcement that you’ll have to wait until 2023 to take up residence in Starfield’s intergalactic expanses?

Well, thanks to Skyrim’s modding community, while you wait for the opportunity to build your ideal space base, you can jump back into a familiar setting and build the kind of real estate empire that Monopoly players dream of.

A new mod by LoryFoxie, called “Real Estate Agent of Skyrim AE-SSE”, takes a popular OG Skyrim mod from 2019 and updates it to work with the most recent versions of the game.

Skyrim Mod Brings Real Estate Agents to Tamriel

The crux of the mod is that it adds a new system for buying houses, which is separate from the vanilla method of cosying up to the Jarl of whichever hold you’re attempting to move into until they give you permission to buy a house in their city.

So, no more having to befriend insufferable rulers just to make sure there’s a roof over your character’s head. However, depending on your feelings about real estate agents, the alternative offered by the mod might not be much of an improvement on that.

This alternative involves several new houses located across Skyrim, which you can purchase using your hard-earned septims from the real estate agent that gives the mod its name, Jaen Gold-Heart, who you can find near Whiterun’s stables.

The houses Jaen has on offer are all fairly cosy, vanilla-style retreats, so as the mod’s description says: “don't expect castles”. However, if you’re looking for a good starter home for a low-level character or building up a collection of safehouses for a thief or assassin, the abodes added by the mod could be right up your alley.

Currently, the properties on offer range in price from 500 to 2,500 septims without decorations, making them very cost-effective compared to Skyrim’s vanilla homes, the cheapest of which will set you back 5,000 septims.

More dwellings may also be added in future via integration with other mods, giving you the chance to expand your real estate portfolio even further.

So pick a house, buy it, and make sure to follow us for updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the wacky world of Skyrim modding.
