Although there are still a few months of the Modern Warfare 2 cycle to go, player attention is already turning to what Call of Duty’s future holds. Activision’s FPS series continues to prove popular and lots of rumours surrounding its next entries have popped up lately.

Following the launch of Season 4 Reloaded, leaks have suggested that two famous rappers could be part of the series' next celebrity crossover and possibly revealed the batch of weaponry that could appear in Season 5.

The latest rumour circulating centers around the heavily-rumoured Modern Warfare 3. Data miners claim to have found clues pointing towards an event in Modern Warfare 2 that could play host to a reveal of its successor.

Possible Call of Duty 2023 reveal event leak

Notable Call of Duty data miner HeyImAlaix has shared the discovery, suggesting that a reveal event for 2023’s new Call of Duty title might take place within the confines of the Al Mazrah map.

While there’s understandably a lot of excitement from players circulating in regards the find right now, one community member isn’t a fan of the prospect of having to loading into Modern Warfare 2's DMZ mode to see potential reveal. In a response to HeyImAlaix's tweet, they declare: “(There's) no way they make us all play DMZ for the Modern Warfare 3 reveal.”

Call of Duty is no stranger to announcing a new release inside its own games. The likes of Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard were both revealed within the first version of Warzone.

Call of Duty 2023 reveal date

Considering data miners are seemingly uncovering files surrounding a reveal, there's a chance it won't be long before Activision is ready to share the next Call of Duty title with the community. Based on previous reveals, August seems like a likely option in terms of the timing of any Call of Duty.

However, as always, it’s important to take any leaks with a pinch of salt until Activision provides some official confirmation.
