Following the end of the competitive Call of Duty Vanguard season, all eyes are on the launch of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Information on Infinity Ward’s next release continues to emerge ahead of the Call of Duty Next event which includes a full multiplayer reveal.
The idea of a game launching with some form of a competitive playlist is nothing new but for Call of Duty fans, some titles have ranked play while others don’t much to the annoyance of those looking to get their fix of competitive action.
So far, the developer hasn’t shared any information on Modern Warfare 2 ranked play. However, a leak following the discovery of the guns list claims ranked play won’t appear when the game launches.
Will Modern Warfare 2 have ranked play?
According to notable Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostOfHope, Modern Warfare 2 will feature ranked play which is great news for the competitive scene. On the other hand, the leak claims the mode won’t arrive on October 28 when it launches worldwide.
Instead, ranked play will arrive as part of Season One which is rumoured to begin in November. The mode will come with the first battle pass of the game in addition to a wealth of new content for players to master.
In addition, the leaker says the launch of ranked play may coincide with the start of the Modern Warfare 2 Call of Duty League (CDL) season which will shift from a January start to beginning in either November or December.
