With a few weeks until the launch of Modern Warfare 2, leaks surrounding Infinity Ward’s upcoming release continue to appear. In recent months, numerous leaks and rumours surrounding various aspects of the game have emerged and following the Modern Warfare 2 beta, the majority of leaks come with some degree of accuracy.

Although the developer has unveiled the majority of new features arriving to multiplayer, leaks on the game’s second year are beginning to appear much to the excitement of fans.

The most recent leak claims classic maps will return to multiplayer as part of a paid DLC that also includes maps from Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games titles.

Classic maps are coming to Modern Warfare 2

According to notable Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostOfHope, a map pack celebrating Call of Duty’s 20th anniversary will feature maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, and Sledgehammer titles that include Modern Warfare 3.

The leak also marks the return of paid DLC in Call of Duty. Since 2019, games receive free seasonal updates that include new maps, guns, and playable characters. Additionally, the leak confirms Modern Warfare 2 will feature a two-year cycle implying Activision won’t release a brand-new title in 2023.

Of course, it’s important to take leaks with a pinch of salt but the prospect of a Call of Duty title featuring iconic battlegrounds from the entire franchise is an exciting prospect.

With the likes of Raid, Favela, and Strike all earning legendary status amongst the community, Modern Warfare 2 has the potential to feature the largest and best multiplayer map pool packed with familiar layouts and new additions from Infinity Ward.
