The return of Shipment in Modern Warfare 2 injected a much-needed breath of fresh air into Infinity Ward’s latest release. Although the developer often applies changes to the game, more recent updates are completely breaking it for many attempting to drop into the action.
With the focus slowly shifting towards the launch of Season Two, many are hoping a new batch of content will give them a reason to return to multiplayer once again. However, a recent playlist adjustment is causing widespread frustration.
Instead of adding the hugely popular Shoot the Ship playlist to MW2, Infinity Ward has removed Shipment 24/7, much to the annoyance of the community.
Shipment 24/7 is no more
After logging into MW2 on January 11, several players questioned Infinity Ward’s decision to remove Shipment 24/7 in favour of a Shoot House playlist. Reddit user pubgisDEAD jokes the removal of the playlist “is how they listen to the community.”
The disappearance of Shipment was known but the developer didn’t reveal its replacement, and upon finding out Shoot House is back, the frustration quickly rolled in. “I knew it was going but I thought it’d get swapped for Shoot the Ship,” says one disappointed fan.
Another slams the lack of variety within MW2 multiplayer. “We really spent $70-$100 just to play Shipment and Shoot House again, 3 years later. Why are we ok with this?”
The lack of solid original maps is an area of concern. Although multiplayer contains plenty of unique battlegrounds, fans prefer to play the superior designs of recycled maps present in other Call of Duty titles.
With rumours of more classic maps returning in the second year of the Modern Warfare 2 cycle, the trend of recycled content saving Infinity Ward is continuing. We’ll have to wait and see if Season Two introduces any new maps while we wait for our daily dose of Shipment to return.
