With the announcement of Monster Hunter: Outlanders from CAPCOM and TiMi Studios, fans are beginning to see new content surrounding the game's core gameplay loop.

One of which was the ability to build bases. This is a very interesting mechanic to add, given that it’s the first time Monster Hunter has featured any base-building elements. Fans have made some observations of similarities to games like Ark and Palworld in terms of resource gathering and crafting. The fact this is in a Monster Hunter game sparks more questions than answers.

Monster Hunter: Outlanders - A New Beginning

Given the nature of Outlanders, it’s safe to assume that our new Hunters aren't as formidable as the Fifth Fleet or even in Monster Hunter: Wilds. The new location looks like uncharted territory, from its swampy marshes to its arid deserts. It’s a safe bet to say that crafting bases will provide us with our own little hideout instead of returning to Astera, Kamura, etc.

This new gameplay tidbit was unveiled during its Developer Talk (Vol. 1), found on their official YouTube Channel. It showcased the team’s plan to further develop the Monster Hunter franchise with their unique spin in a mobile setting. With TiMi Studios’ expertise in mobile games (Call of Duty, Pokemon Unite), they’re confident they can maintain the series’ core identity with Outlanders.

Monster Hunter: Outlanders - FAQs Answered

In addition to the Developer Talk, the official Twitter/X page of Monster Hunter: Outlanders answered frequently asked questions from players without mentioning its microtransactions.

The Twitter/X Page stated that there will be more quests besides hunting monsters. These include various activities, such as open-world exploration and challenge-based missions.

Further info revealed in the post was the presence of unique monsters. They are pretty mum about introducing Outlander’s flagship monster, but they’re saying that players need to stay tuned for more updates in the future. Who knows? We might see more unique monsters before the game’s official launch.

Monster Hunter: Outlanders - Monetization Still Kept Under Wraps

Overall, your guess is as good as mine. Even if Monster Hunter: Outlanders commits to this new base-building and survival element, fans still wonder how monetization works in this game.

We discussed this during the game’s surprise announcement, and while we can speculate, TiMi Studios is keeping its monetization a secret… for now. Knowing their track record from their previous games, it’s safe to assume that monetization will be a big part of our Monster Hunting journey; let’s just hope it doesn’t suffer from pay-to-win mechanics.
