Palworld is the latest contender in the creature-collecting gaming genre and inevitably draws parallels to the iconic Pokemon series. While the comparisons are too obvious, there are several things Palworld does better than Pokemon.
Palworld, dubbed as Pokemon with guns, adds a survival instinct to the game becoming appealing to a broader audience while remaining interesting for younger players thanks to a cartoon-like feel.
The game has sold massively even in the early access, with five million copies in just three days and it would be good to cover the major things Palword does better than Pokemon, including world exploration, rich multiplayer, and enhanced graphics, among others.
5 Things Palworld does better than Pokemon
1. Better Multiplayer
Palworld has made a huge step forward when it comes to multiplayer gaming in games like these. With Pokemon having numerous restraints, Palworld has co-op which can provide multiple interesting moments within its open world.
Thanks to its rich multiplayer, Palworld is no stranger to cooperative missions, fun combat, and exploration with your friends. On the other hand, Pokemon is known for its solitary adventures, and though Palworld servers are still in development and prone to mishaps, with up to 32 players on a dedicated server, you will find yourself in several memorable moments with other players.
2. Unreal Engine 5 Graphics
Another thing that Palworld does better than Pokemon is graphics, though this isn't a tough task. Palworld is an Unreal Engine 5 game built for PC and though it is still an early access it outshines every Pokemon game.
With a smooth performance and polished visuals, it is far better than every Pokemon game we witnessed including the latest, released on Nintendo Switch Oled. Nevertheless, with the new Switch 2 announced, we are yet to see Pokemon visual improvements, but for now, Palworld's advantage remains unbeatable.
3. Active Combat
While we have learned to love turned-based combat from Pokemon games, we all feel that it needs some changes. Palworld does just that. In contrast to Pokemon, Palworld has an active combat as you fight in real-time which we have also seen in recent modern JRPGs such as Persona 5 and even Dragon Quest 11.
This has attracted new players who haven't been quite fond of the slow and tedious combat system. Palworld integrates exploration and combat into one marvellous adventure so we can only recommend it to players with akin interest.
4. Creature Interaction
With the rather limited interactions available in Pokemon with the pocket monsters, Palworld has taken this to another level. Pals are always beside you and you can assign them multiple tasks both in the base or in combat.
Moreover, Palworld introduces mounts with unique features, some doubling as tools or weapons like the flamethrower-wielding Foxsparks. Pals have a unique set of skills that help streamline the process of gathering resources. Assigning them to stations on a base, Pals automatically handle tasks like crafting, gathering, or watering. This efficient system lets players access resources without tedious manual collection, which certainly speeds up the game.
5. Crafting
Palworld heavily outshines Pokemon crafting mechanics, adding a sense of survival into the genre.
As players build and upgrade their bases, crafting becomes an essential part of the gameplay, giving every exploration a meaningful purpose. Palworld's crafting involves resource gathering and base creation, crucial for various tasks like cooking and ingot production. The game introduces different workbenches, each serving a unique function, such as the Primitive Workbench for basic tools and the Pal Gear Workbench for creature-related items.
Despite being only in early access, Palworld has taken the world by storm. It has taken some aspects from the popular Pokemon games and improved on them. While this has spawned some hate towards the indie game, it is loved by many, of which sold copies speak. Nevertheless, there are a few things Palworld does better than Pokemon, and these are just some of them.
