It looks like Monster Hunter Wilds could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2—but how? And when?
The Monster Hunter Wilds team recently held its final preview event in Madrid, showcasing the new and updated content set for the game’s full release. Throughout the preview tour, a recent interview from GameReactor Spain provided some intriguing information about a potential Switch 2 release.
The GameReactor interviewer asked if there was even a slight possibility of bringing Monster Hunter Wilds to the Nintendo Switch 2. In response, Game Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto stated, "Of course, with relation to platforms for Monster Hunter Wilds, we have nothing extra to announce beyond what’s already out there." It’s a safe answer — exactly what PR is meant to do. However, it didn’t outright confirm that a Switch 2 version is off the table.
He added, "But we’re also kind of in the same position as everyone else with the Switch 2. It’s such a brand-new announcement, and we would need to take time in the future to learn exactly the nature of the hardware and how we’ll be using it best. That’s something that’s going to be part of our plans moving forward."
With the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2, more Monster Hunter fans are eager to see what Nintendo’s new system is capable of. Granted, Monster Hunter Wilds is a graphically demanding game, with some players reportedly experiencing optimization issues even on high-end hardware. However, with the game’s full release approaching, a more optimized version is expected — and who knows? We might see an even better version on Nintendo’s latest hybrid console.
After all, some speculate that the Switch 2 could outperform the Steam Deck. If Monster Hunter Wilds can run well on a Steam Deck, there’s a strong possibility that a Switch 2 version could be viable.
Besides, it’s not like Nintendo is a stranger to Capcom. Monster Hunter Rise was essentially enjoying a 1-year Nintendo Switch exclusive, which obviously hints at their strong partnership.
Capcom is now going full steam ahead for Monster Hunter Wilds’ imminent February 28 release, lifting the preview embargo for media outlets and content creators. More and more players are witnessing the game’s improved performance and visuals — far beyond the Open Beta’s rough optimization.
