The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially revealed a few weeks ago, but fans can only tell so much about the console based on the trailer.

Nintendo plans to do a whole showcase with a Nintendo Direct later this year, and the company just gave fans the exact start time for anyone who wants to get ahead of the reveals.

Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Start Time

In an official announcement, the company revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is set to start on April 2 at 6 a.m. PT (which is also 3 p.m. CEST, 2 p.m. GMT, and 9 a.m. ET).

No further details have been revealed about the showcase, but we all know this will be an event dedicated to the Nintendo Switch 2. Some are also hoping that Nintendo will also announce some upcoming games for the console—one of which is almost surely a new Mario Kart game.

For context, launch titles for the original Switch included The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and 1-2-Switch. As for launch window titles (games released within the month of the launch), there was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2.

What Do Fans Know about the Switch 2 So Far?

So far, the only thing that fans know from the official source is everything that they saw in the teaser announcement. It’s been revealed that the Switch 2 is significantly bigger, and there is a new way for joy-cons to connect to the main console.

Though this is just speculation, the part in the trailer where the joy-cons are gliding flat on a surface could be a hint at a mouse format—which some speculate could be Nintendo opening up the possibility of the console being able to adapt keyboard-and-mouse format. This is also backed up by how the Switch 2 stand can almost lay the device flat on the ground, mimicking what could be a drawing tablet or a laptop format.

It’s also been confirmed that the Switch 2 is fully backwards compatible, and players can plug and play their original Switch games into it with no problem.

Though the Nintendo Switch has had a long lifespan in the gaming space, a lot of fans are hoping that the Switch 2 will be able to give the device a lot more power this time—maybe even enough to play AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077.

With the Steam Deck being a handheld console that’s able to have the computing power of a gaming PC, a lot of fans are hoping that Nintendo will manage to up the ante. After all, the company has managed to always shake up the market; before the Switch came along, they revolutionized the gaming space with the motion controls of the Wii.

With the Switch 2, fans are expecting a whole upgrade when it comes to the Nintendo Switch hardware. Hopefully, the company manages to knock it out of the park again, and this won’t turn out to be a Nintendo Wii U situation.

Keep an eye on the site as we will be reporting all the news from the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.
