Nintendo teased the Switch 2 reveal for April, and in the meantime, fans have been trying to figure out what to expect from the long-awaited console.

While many are certain the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch sometime this year, it seems a third party publisher has somewhat confirmed exactly when fans can expect the console to be released.

When is the Nintendo Switch Coming Out?

As pointed out by @MauroNL3 on Twitter, a press release from Nacon for their Q3 earnings has confirmed the Switch 2 is expected to release during the first half of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, which runs from April to September 2024. Here’s the post:

While fans should take this with a pinch of salt, it’s worth noting that Nacon would have insider information on when the planned release for the Switch 2 will be; after all, the report has also confirmed several compatible games and accessories are ready for the Switch 2.

While some speculated the console would be aiming for a release sometime around the Christmas season, maybe a release around summer would be perfect timing for the Nintendo Switch 2 to make a big impression on players.

How are Fans Reacting So Far?

While there is usually a huge jump in innovation when it comes to every new mainline Nintendo console, there are some fans who are admittedly underwhelmed with the Switch 2, seeing that it’s mostly the same factor as the original Switch, only slightly larger.

Of course, fans are also expecting the Switch 2 to be way more powerful than the original Switch, and some hope that the joy-con drift issues the first device had will be a thing of the past for the Switch 2.

There is also heavy speculation that the new joy-con can also double as an optical mouse based on the reveal trailer, but so far, nothing official has been confirmed by Nintendo about that. With that said, it’s possible that some PC games could be coming to the Switch that would benefit from mouse controls like RTS games; there must be a reason why the joy-cons were shown side down on a flat surface.

With aim-assist being integral to the enjoyment of first-person shooters on console, maybe the Switch has found a way to introduce a makeshift keyboard-and-mouse set-up for the Switch’s predecessor.

The Nintendo Switch has had an impressive run since its launch, and fans are more than ready for a new iteration of the console to come and take its place.

Sure the Switch was already pretty impressive with how it was able to play games like Tears of the Kingdom, but fans are just going crazy with anticipation thinking about how much more advanced the Switch 2 could be when it comes to raw power.

For now, all fans can do is speculate, but come April, Nintendo promises to give a more in-depth look at the Switch 2. Hopefully, they manage to answer all the questions that fans have for their next mainline console.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to launch sometime this year. Fans are expecting a full showcase of the device during the Nintendo Direct on April 2.
