Is Only Up multiplayer? Only Up is one of the latest indie releases inspired by Bennet Foddy's Getting Over It. However, the game makes a lot of innovations to the original formula. Namely, that it's 3D, and with the latest games, some degree of multiplayer is definitely expected.
While it provides a satisfying solo experience, there's no denying that multiplayer would probably make Only Up even more enjoyable. Racing against your friends for the best speedrun times or trolling them with collisions is a blast. So let's check out how the Only Up multiplayer is implemented!
Is Only Up multiplayer?
Yes, Only Up will feature a multiplayer mode for you to enjoy with your friends. In fact, the developers have confirmed that Only Up will have a dedicated multiplayer mode.
A Steam User asked the developers:
"Multiplayer is only 2 or up to 4 players (or more?)"
To this, a developer responded and confirmed:
"Hi! The game will be able to host infinite numbers of players but of course, the host computer is the limitation. We have tried with 7-8 people so far. There will also be a balance problem when playing way too many people but it should be doable."
This means that Only Up has a local hosting multiplayer modem, where the number of friends you can invite depends on the strength of your PC. While not as reassuring as dedicated servers hosted by the developers, it's still handy. You can check out the full thread yourself, too, for community discussions on the topic.
With a game like Only Up, it's going to be exciting to see all the shenanigans you can get up to with your friends and the online community. Races and speedrunning competitions will surely form an integral part of the Only Up experience, and provide it longevity besides the single-player mode.
All in all, there's good reason to look forward to the Only Up multiplayer mode, and that's all we know about it so far. If you're looking for more guides, check out how to play Unturned with friends, as well as the best maps in Unturned.
