Overwatch 2's Season 7 Rise of Darkness dropped on October 10, and with it came a whole host of new content, including the option to create bespoke cosmetic loadouts for each hero. However, the season’s title feature has launched completely busted.
On the surface, Overwatch 2 cosmetic loadouts are a great idea. With over 40 heroes to choose from, and a dizzying amount of cosmetic items to sift through, the concept of creating a whole 'fit' for each character alleviates some of the stress of deep diving for that Season 1 charm you know you had laying around somewhere.
But with any new feature, there's bound to be some teething issues, and that's exactly what's happened with Overwatch 2's 'Random From Favourite' cosmetic loadout option. This feature allows players to quick-dress their character, pulling a random cosmetic combo from their archive of unlocked skins. While most players have been having a lot of fun seeing the randomised looks for their favourite mains, quite a few have reported seeing unexpected visual bugs, which only adds to the chaotic choice to have an algorithm decide on your look for the day.
Reddit user DesperateKoala posted two particularly hysterical issues when selecting 'Random From Favourite' for Genji and Mercy. Mercy has taken it upon herself to live up to her battle moniker, by taking the stance of DPS hero Reaper. Meanwhile, poor Genji has found himself impaled by numerous iterations of his blade - and to be fair, swordmaster or not, the way he flings it around while in his ultimate it's surprising he hasn't suffered a few knicks and cuts here and there.
This mishap naturally caused the comment section to implode with jokes about how now Mercy can double damage boost, or heal herself like Reaper does when he lands shots on enemies. But the comments on DesperateKoala's post also had several players complaining that they don't even have the 'Random From Favourite' cosmetic option, which seems to be another bug in and of itself with many finding the feature completely absent.
It certainly isn't the first time Overwatch 2 has encountered bugs, nor will it be the last. Even with the dawn of this new season, we saw Hanzo completely removed from play due to a bug that caused him to fire fully charged arrows at any given time. But we're sure Blizzard will be quick to rectify the bugs that seem to have come with their new 'Random From Favourite' cosmetic option, especially considering their knack for prioritising skins that cost a lot of money.
