To seasoned players, Blizzard locking awesome content behind a real-money paywall should come as no surprise, but it doesn’t stop the backlash. Fans are once-again furious with Blizzard for locking new Diablo IV skins behind a massive price.
Introduced in the newest update for Overwatch 2, the Diablo IV tie-in Lilith Moira skin and the Inarius Pharah skin are both locked behind a whopping £35.99 cost. As expected, fans have already taken to Reddit and Twitter to vent their frustrations.
Both the Lilith and Inarius skins were heavily featured in the promotion for Season 7 Rise of Darkness, and to have the Diablo 4-inspired skins be so prominent in marketing material and then completely unavailable to players unless they open their wallets, has caused the Overwatch 2 community to unleash hell on social media. But rightly so, in our opinion.
The only way to get your hands on these admittedly awesome skins is to purchase the Ultimate Battle Pass bundle. That would have been frustrating regardless but even more following the increased bundle cost that arrived in Overwatch 2 Season 6.
Previously, Ultimate Battle Pass bundle prices were a lot lower, but Season 6 saw an increase thanks to the inclusion of story missions.
So instead of reverting the cost of the Ultimate Battle Pass bundle to the lower amount it had always been for the previous 5 seasons Blizzard decided to keep the extended cost with no additional content. You can check out what the Ultimate Battle Pass will get you below.
- Premium Battle Pass for Season 7
- 20 Battle Pass tier skips
- 2,000 Overwatch coins
- Inarius Pharah skin, Lilith Moira skin, Pumpkin Bastion skin
- Moira Highlight Intro - 'Be Beautiful'
- Sprays - Inarius’ Side, Lilith’s Side
To add insult to injury, the cost of this Ultimate Battle Pass bundle is over half of what Blizzard is asking for the standard edition of Diablo 4. That's right, the real money fans have to fork out to get some heavily promoted Overwatch 2 skins is over fifty percent of the cost of the game the skins are based on.
It would have perhaps smarted a little less if they were available to purchase separately, but alas, the Diablo 4 skins are only available as part of the bundle. Fans have taken to Reddit to openly complain, with one thread from user YayoProtocal garnering over 18,000 upvotes.
There's been a fair bit to complain about with the state of Overwatch 2 lately. With the scrapped PvE plans, the real-money cost of story missions last season, and now to add insult to injury, the cost of arguably some of the best skins in the game. It's a shame, but honestly, we can't say we're entirely surprised.
If you're a support main rocking the new Lilith skin, we have an entire support heroes tier list in line with the current meta for this season that you should definitely check out, and we also have a Season 7 Rise of Darkness hub that gives you all the info on new maps and hero reworks.
