Overwatch 2’s latest update adds a ‘Personalized’ Store similar to what we’ve seen with Riot’s VALORANT and League of Legends.
The Black Market, or Maximillien’s Store, is a new tab found under the game’s SHOP that offers the best skins tailored to your playstyle.
Say, you’re into Mercy, like a lot. You’d get a guaranteed Legendary Mercy skin that’s not found in Overwatch 2’s current Shop rotation. If you’re into tanks, there’s bound to be a Legendary or Epic skin for your Winstons, Zaryas, and Reinhardts.

However, not a lot of players have got what they want, with results showing heroes not from their mains. Given that this is Blizzard’s first foray into these personal gimmicks, there are bound to be issues.
Maximillien is Overwatch's resident black market dealer. He’s an Omnic, which speaks volumes about his influential position in a world rife with Omnic persecution.
Known for his expertise in money laundering, he’s often seen making deals with Blackwatch and Talon. However, given Overwatch’s recent lack of lore updates, his current allegiance remains unclear.
Interestingly, Overwatch just recently teased a new story for a character called ‘The Pocket King,’ airing later tonight. It could be about Maximillien’s lore or something else.
This is the first time Blizzard has exerted effort on its story in a long time, so something is interesting about this newfound lore dump.
Maximillien Shop coincides with Overwatch 2’s latest beefy mid-season update, which celebrates the Year of the Snake in its ongoing Chinese New Year Event. Characters like Sombra, Mei, and Ashe will have their own Chinese-themed skins. The update also includes a new cosmetic update called the ‘Celestial Bundle.’ Heroes like Juno, Zenyatta, and Moira get their own unique astral flair.
This update also introduces Ashe’s new Mythic Weapon Skin, ‘Lead Rose.’ Additionally, the mid-season patch serves as a balance update, tuning down overperforming heroes like Hazard to make them less dominant in higher ranks.
Maximillien’s Store runs until January 28, 2025.
