Chromite is a key resource that lets you craft some of the best gear in Palworld, such as the coveted Hexolite armor, weapons, and tools.

The Feybreak Island update makes Chromite a must-have to get past the game's more challenging levels.

Here are the best ways to get chromite quickly:

Best Ways to Get Chromite Fast

To search for chromite, you must first craft the Metal Detector at Technology Level 56.

To forge this tool, collect Nightstar Sand at night on Feybreak Island.

The Metal Detector will help you track down those underground Chromite deposits once you have it.

As you get near a deposit, the detector starts beeping quicker and switches from blue to red to show Chromite is around.

At this point, you’ll see a puff of smoke that shows precisely where the Chromite node is.

Each node usually gives you 80 to 90 pieces of Chromite, so it's a solid way to gather the material.

Another option is to catch Smokie, a Dark-type Pal, to help you with Chromite.

Smokie can use the Dig, Dog! Dig! move to highlight Chromite deposits on Feybreak Island.

If you want it to work well, keep Smokie out of the Pal Sphere while mining in passive mode.

This will let you collect more Chromite, with up to 400 Chromite per node.

Smokie resides in the northern part of Feybreak Island. Equip it with Smokie’s Harness to unlock its exclusive digging power once you have it.

Feybreak Island has a bunch of places where Chromite nodes are concentrated, so it’s great for farming.

The caves at coordinates (-1200, -1100), (-1128, -1298), and (-1047, -1201) are known hotspots for Chromite nodes.

You’ll have no trouble finding these nodes with your Metal Detector or Smokie’s ability.

You'll usually find up to four Chromite nodes to mine when you head into these caves.

Along with caves, a few areas in Scorched Hill Waypoint have plenty of Chromite, and dungeons in those spots also have Chromite nodes scattered around.

Dungeons are another good spot for Chromite, though the nodes are more spread out than in caves.

If you're dungeon-hunting, whip out your Metal Detector or Smokie’s skill to uncover those Chromite nodes.

Some of the well-known dungeons where Chromite can be located are at (-848, -957), (-1000, -1030), and (-1100, -824).

Since dungeons have respawn timers, you may need to wait for them to reset if you plan to return for more Chromite.

If you're not up for much action, consider breeding Silvegis, a dragon-like Pal that drops Chromite when defeated.

When it dies, Silvegis drops 2–3 Chromite. To farm it, breed Silvegis and kill the newborn Pals.

This method might not be as hands-on as mining, but it works well, especially when using the Large-Scale Electric Egg Incubator to hatch Silvegis eggs faster.

You can also use the Pal Disassembly Conveyor to automate the butchering and get a steady stream of Chromite.

If you want to speed things up, go for Pals with traits like Philanthropist and Nocturnal so the breeding keeps going overnight.

You can also get Chromite through Pal Expeditions in a less traditional way.

These expeditions usually take an hour and can drop 30 to 50 Chromite and other valuable items.

You can dispatch your Pals on expeditions to locations such as the Dark Cave of Feybreak or the Black Market of the Brothers of the Eternal Pyre.

Black Market trips can yield 15-30 Chromite, which is useful if you're still progressing through Feybreak Island.

On top of that, if you head over to Feybreak Island, the Arrogant Pal Critic will give you Chromite for completing a few requests, like showing him specific Pals.

This method’s a bit hit or miss, but it gives you extra rewards while you farm Chromite.
