Persona 3 Reload was a long time coming and fans came in droves to support this remake, especially on PC. Reload came in strong, not only having the strongest Atlus launch on Steam but also beating Persona 5 Royal’s launch a few years ago.
The folks at PCGamesN confirmed that Reload’s launch player count is a whopping 45,002 players. Comparatively, Persona 5 Royal peaked at 35,474 players, likely due to the game coming out on PS4 first in 2020 and getting a multi-platform release in 2022.
Having a strong launch like this on PC and other systems shows just how anticipated Persona 3 Reload was. Based on the JRPG’s reception, we wouldn’t be surprised if the game ends up selling even more copies later on.
Atlus’ unique relationship with Xbox is one reason why the Persona series is now multi-platform at launch. While Atlus RPGs aren’t exclusive to Xbox, they are announced for Microsoft’s systems first before getting confirmed for other systems. The only system exempt from this is Nintendo Switch, though rumours are speculating that it will be a launch title for Switch 2.
More Persona 3 Reload content might be coming, as insiders are claiming that extensive DLC is planned for the JRPG. If the rumours are true, we will be getting the post-game epilogue from Persona 3 FES called The Answer later on. Fans hoping to get the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable are out of luck, unfortunately, unless Atlus is planning a Royal-style release for Reload.
Despite some missing content, Persona 3 Reload has proven to be a success, getting a ton of positive reviews at launch. This writer liked the remake so much that he gave it a perfect 10/10, though FES and Portable content are missed. Still, this is a stellar remake of an already great game, so newer fans and veteran players should give this a shot.
