Halo Infinite's Player Count Has Declined Significantly

Halo Infinite came out of the gates strong, with the sequel marking the biggest ever launch for the franchise. Sadly, it seems that the game's player base has steadily reduced since launching in November.

That's evidenced by Microsoft's most played games list, where Halo Infinite dropped out of the top 5 rankings. Previously, Infinite had been on the top 5 list since launch.

Now, the sequel has now dropped to no.6, with the following games taking over:

  1. Fortnite
  2. Call of Duty Warzone
  3. GTA 5
  4. Apex Legends
  5. Roblox
Xbox's most played games list has Halo Infinite at number 6.

The sequel's player count has gradually reduced on Steam, with peak players currently matching 56,000 in the last month. It's a big difference from the game's biggest count at 256,619 (via Steam Charts).

So, why is this occurring? Halo Infinite has been plagued by several issues, mainly with frame rate and performance problems for PC gamers. Hackers have also impacted games, especially due to the lack of an anti-cheat system.

Players have also voiced concerns with certain modes, with Big Team Battles and vehicles spawning only recently being resolved.

343 Industries is looking to turn this around in the next few months. With a forge mode, co-op campaign, and potential Battle Royale playlist on the way; the future is still looking bright for Halo Infinite.
